| Josiah
B. Grindall is the earliest known ancestor in this
part of the family lineage. It is believed he may
have born in England in the 1760's. In 1775
ship passenger listings show that a William
Grindall, Elizabeth Grindall, and a Joseph Grindall
arrived in the colonies and settled in different
areas in Maryland. The Joseph Grindall shown may
have well been Josiah.
The 1790 U S
Census for Maryland shows Josiah B. Grindall
residing in Baltimore, Maryland with sons and
daughters, as well as some slaves.
