Dad's Service
My Military Career
Dad served with the U S Army for 38 years. After World War II he remained in service to his country as a member of the Army Signal Corps until he retired as a Major in 1960.

He served with the British Civilian Technical Corps from Nov. 1941 thru August of 1943.

Photo at left is of dad, taken in New York in 1953.

This photo was taken on dad's last day in a CTC (British Civilian Technical Corps) Uniform - August 1942

He was reassigned to the U. S. Army and was commissioned a 2nd LT. He remained in England as a Liaison Officer between the CTC and USA.

He remained in that post until he received orders returning him to the states in 1943 for OCS (Officers Candidates School) in New Jersey and then onto more training in Kansas, prior to his deployment to the Marianas Islands in the Pacific theater of operations on Tinian Island.

Dad Outside Radar Shop

A clip of my father outside his Radar Shop on Tinian Island.

This was the shop in which the aircraft radar and communications equipment was repaired.

Besides being the C.O. of the radar shop, dad was also assigned as Officer in Charge of Communications and the Photography Lab. The photo lab was responsible for many of the photos that appear in the Tinian section of this website. Some of the photos taken by his shop have shown up in books and other web sites, being furnished by the men that served under his command.

Proud to have served his nation for 28 years.

Dad turned 96 this past July and this medal display was presented to him as his birthday gift on his 94th by his number 1 son. A gift he is proud to receive.

The medals awarded for his service include the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign with Bronze Battle Star, The European Campaign, The American Theater Medal, and World War II Commemorative Medals and other medals authorized for post WWII events. The patch at center-top was the 20th Army Air Forces patch.

Dad passed away Dec. 9, 2007 and was laid to rest at Ft Snelling Nat'l Cemetery Dec 17, 2007.
