Dad's Siblings

This couldn't be a family site without paying tribute to our parents. Dad passed away Dec. 2007 and Mom recently celebrated her 84th in March 2009. Together they raised a family of 9 with 4 sons and 5 daughters. Aside from their own family the were also  foster parents for a large number of babies that were awaiting adoption.

May 22, 2007 celebrated 64 years together

Dad was an electronics instructor and his career in teaching began shortly after he returned from army service after World War II and continued until his retirement in 1980 at the age of 69. Mom never worked outside the house and was a loving and dedicated mother to us all, and still is.

They met while dad was serving with the British Civilian Technical Corps in England. Dad joined the CTC in 1941 and served with them until being called to duty by the U S Army Air Corps in 1943. He was commissioned a Lieutenant in the Air Corps and served as a liaison to the CTC before being recalled to the states for some training and then shipped out to the Pacific and duty on the island of Tinian, in the Mariannas Island group.

Meanwhile, back in the states, Mom stayed with Dad's folks. Just a young lass of 19 and in a new country, she was safe from the falling V2 rockets of Hitler's Germany that soared into Britain from across the English Channel. She was amazed at the varieties and amounts of food and other goods that were so readily available here as opposed to that of her motherland. But she learned how to cope with this new adventure.

The above picture, taken about 1993, of the family was one of the rare times we were all able to get together, as we are scattered about the country.

My grandfathers family consisted of 5, 3 sons and 2 daughters. Today one of dad's sisters is the only family member that is left. Dad's youngest brother George passed away in 1993 and his brother Art passed on in 1995, and his sister Rosemary passed away in February - 2006. Dad passed away December 9, 2007, a remarkable man that will be missed by all who knew him.
