U. S. Forces started the invasion of the Marianas, July 20, 1944. One by one the islands fell back into control of the American forces, but not without a high cost. Thousands lost their lives, civilians, Japanese forces, and American forces. The occupation by U. S. forces was completed by August 2, 1944.

In the aftermath of the invasion, much of what was, was now gone, destroyed by the bombardment of the invading forces. This is one of the unfortunate mishaps of war that cannot helped.

The pictures below illustrate the horror and ugliness of mankind's greed and lust for power. It is difficult to know whether mankind will ever understand that NOTHING is gained by war and that even more is lost by war.

The above pictures are presented here, not to Glorify War, but to serve as a reminder that war is not what God intended for mankind. If Mankind were to pay heed to the Good Book and Love his Brother then this world would be a much better place. But only the opposite seems to exist for mankind, as man succumbs to the ways of the devil, and falls prey to the Greed and evils of Power.
