Tribute to Msgt John Lucas who served with the 505th Bomb Group, 483rd Bomb Squadron, Tinian Island 1945. Photos and information furnished by his sons Chris and Joe. John was a Flight Engineer on the B-29 "Dangerous Lady".

At the time of his service in WWII his last name was listed as Luckos.

Born: June 8, 1919 Deceased: July 14, 2006 (Age 87)

Birthplace: Greenfield, MA (Canada Hill)

3rd of 6 children of Lithuanian immigrants, (two older brothers ,one younger brother, two younger sisters). All 4 brothers served in WW2.

Educated in Greenfield schools. Attended 1 room schoolhouse until 7th grade, graduated in 1938.

Married to Theresa Arial on November 15, 1947. Married for 58 ½ years.

Father of 7 children, 21 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren.

Worked as a millwright in Esleeck Paper Mill from 1946-1981, retiring.

Enjoyed hunting, fishing, a true sportsman. Also enjoyed vegetable gardening and woodworking.
